If you ask me, spring is the most beautiful time of the year to explore Düsseldorf in all its glory. The weather gets relatively warm quite quickly here in Düsseldorf which means spring can often start as early as the beginning of March. Once you enter April, the flowers are pretty much guaranteed to be in full bloom.
When this time of the year rolls around, you better be ready for some incredible photo ops and amazing outdoor locations where you can enjoy the flowers in bloom – more specifically, my favorite, the cherry blossoms and crocuses (these often come out in late February/early March).
Since you all went crazy (aka. the post went viral) last season when we posted about the amazing tulip fields right outside of Düsseldorf, I figured let’s find a way to stay even more local this spring! Here you have it…

10 of the most beautiful spots in Düsseldorf to enjoy the flowers this spring!
The road at EKŌ-Haus
While the inside of the EKŌ-Haus is pretty spectacular, it’s the path leading up to the grounds that won my heart over. Seen in the third picture (on the right) this is the pathway leading into the grounds of the EKŌ-Haus. That means (BONUS) even if they are closed, you can still set your eyes on these beautiful cherry blossom trees.
Zietenstrasse in Golzheim
Our #2 spot is taken by a street I have yet to photograph. Zietenstrasse in Golzheim is simply just a residential street in Düsseldorf which also conveniently is one of the most beautiful places to be when the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom. The entire street is filled with the remarkable smells of blossoming trees and beautiful white and pink buds.
The Blue Band at the Rheinpark
A classic and one that everyone should know by now is the Blue Band along the Rheinpark (close to the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke). These crocuses run throughout the city, but can be mostly spotted along the Rheinpark and closest to the road.
Watch the video I put together below for more inspiration!
The Botanical Garden at HHU
Somehow, the Botanical Garden at Heinrich-Heine-Universität is still somewhat of a hidden gem here in Düsseldorf. Every time I’ve been to visit, there have only been a few other visitors at a time. This gives you a much more personalized experience and allows you to pack a picnic and relax in the fresh air and wide-open grassy hills behind the glass dome (where you’ll find more tropical plants).
Benrather Schlosspark
You’ve all likely heard of Benrather Schloss by now, but what many seem to skip over is the gorgeous grounds of the Benrather Schlosspark. This is where you’ll catch some of the most beautiful flowers in bloom during the spring and summer months.
Schlosspark Eller
Schlosspark Eller is hands-down my favorite spot in the spring. There’s something about the charming castle grounds and the beautiful spring flowers that makes me feel like I’m surrounded by paradise. Many people tend to forget about Schlosspark Eller since it’s not located in the city center but in a neighborhood a bit further out (though still extremely accessible by public transit). Trust me, you will not regret your visit.
The Hofgarten
The Hofgarten is certainly no secret, but here you’ll be able to find a ton of different flowers in bloom at many different points in the year. Not to mention, you’ll be busy exploring the entire day long as the Hofgarten is one of the largest and oldest public parks in Germany.
Volksgarten & Südpark
Volksgarten and Südpark are also both massive grounds of natural spaces that will keep you busy all day long. I somehow wasn’t able to find any spring photos from the park in my archives, but once I’m able to snap some new spring shots, I’ll swap them out asap.
Japanese Garden at Nordpark
The Japanese Garden and the Nordpark are both amazing places to explore in the spring. If you check out the video I put together below, you’ll be able to explore the area in a much different light – in the winter. Not many dare to roam the Nordpark in the cold winter months, but it’s also worth exploring even on the coldest of days!
Outside the Kö-Bogen
Shopping and beautiful nature? The best mix yet. When the spring rolls around and the trees are budding, even the smallest of flowers around the area make the entire street so picturesque. There may not be as many flowers along the Königsallee as there are in the Hofgarten or Volksgarten, but it’s still very much worth a visit in the spring.
