Every good pub crawl stops at a range of bars from a cool place to chat with friends to a bar with a bumping dance floor. This list includes a mix of bars in Düsseldorf’s Altstadt that will please all pub crawl attendees and make for a great night. So, get out there and have fun!
PS: Another local fave is to grab some craft beers (or altbier) ahead of time and head down to the Altstadt to sit along the Rhinepromande steps and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere!
There’s no denying that you’ll need to take an Altbier tour and visit all the different Altbier Breweries in the Altstadt, but a pub crawl requires a little more variety, which I’m excited to share with you below!
Post Sections
1. Holy Craft Beer Bar
Holy Craft Beer Bar is the only place in Düsseldorf that solely offers craft beer. This makes it the perfect place to start the pub crawl. The bar has a unique atmosphere and a variety of craft beers from across Europe and the world. I suggest getting a flight to try the range of beers they have on tap and to get a good idea of what the craft beer scene in Düsseldorf is all about.
2. Brauerei im Füchschen
No pub crawl is complete without a trip to the lively Ratinger Straße. The street is filled with different altbier pubs that each have their own flair. On the weekdays, everyone will be here for a beer with coworkers after a long day at work and on the weekends it turns into a hot spot for a relaxed night with friends. The beer comes in small glasses and is a little more than two euros, but be careful the waiters will bring you a new beer without asking! To stop this, just put a coaster over the top of your glass. Remember, with too many drinks you’re not going to make it to the end of the crawl!
3. The Irish Pubs
There are a ton of Irish pubs in the Düsseldorf worth visiting, including Fatty’s Irish Pub, O’Reilly’s Irish Pub, Suttons Irish Pub, and McLaughlin’s, all with awesome events and some great tasting beers. O’Reilly’s, for example, has typical German and Irish beers as well as cocktail options. Fridays and Saturdays are karaoke nights, Thursday nights are beer pong nights, and Mondays are trivia in both German and English. With all your friends together on your pub crawl, this is a great stop to grab a drink and sing your heart out to your favorite song at karaoke.
4. Peter’s Diebels Treff
Listen to German Schlager galore and throwback 2000s hip hop for the ultimate dancing pit stop. The whole bar may not be dancing, but you can definitely make it start. Although I have never been able to get the name of the shot, just ask for the shot with powder. They will give you a packet of flavored, fizzy sugar and a shot. Put the entire packet of sugar in your mouth and then down the shot for the best-tasting shot in all of Germany!
5. Brauerei Kürzer
Kürzer is filled with students and after-work life. The bar offers cheap Altbier and always has a huge crowd both inside and out onto the street. This is the place to stand and chat with friends, as well as to meet new people. If you can push through the crowd, play a game at the foosball table in the back of the bar!
6. Cubanito’s Bar
This bar is right next door to Kürzer so it’s only a few steps away. End the night listening to wonderful music in a packed bar with a dark interior. They serve amazing cocktails with a wide range of gin and tonic options. For a more relaxed vibe, head upstairs for a smaller bar that usually has fewer people and more seating depending on the night of the week.
Of course, there are plenty of other worthy stops around town, which is why we want you to tell us which bars we should add to the list and which bars you’ve tried! Let us know in the comments below. Have a blast on your next pub crawl!?

Hello Jenna,
great summary about the Dusseldorf Altbier and cool bars and pubs. I think your blog really great and it is nice that you report on the most beautiful corners in Dusseldorf because many tourists miss the best otherwise. If you feel like coming on a guided pub crawl tour maybe there is one or the other bar or pub you do not know yet and you will like it. I’m now here in Dusseldorf over 15 years in the Dusseldorf old town on the road because they know each other well. I would like to invite you to the next Pub Crawl 🙂
Greetings Erik
Hi there Erik,
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment! Though, I’m sure we could learn a thing or two about a good party from you as well!?
We’d love to come and experience a pub crawl with you. We will send you a short email soon! Thanks!
Best,
Jenna
Hi Jenna,
A group of us came to Düsseldorf quite a few years ago and had a great time. We’re thinking of coming back this year at the end of November but are a little worried that a lot of the bars might be closed (Frankfurt seems to close many bars over winter which spoiled a trip a few years ago). Is this the case with Düsseldorf?
Hey there, Robin! I wouldn’t say that many bars actually close here in the winter time, though they might seem a little “less lively” than they do when they’re bumpin’ in the summer months. In general, spring and summer are the best times to go clubbing here and visit the bars, but there are still quite a number open in the winter months too!?
