If there’s one thing that we will all need at some point in time, it’s passport photos. Whether it’s for your residence permit or registration in Düsseldorf, your passport, your driver’s license (or exchange of), or any other legal documents, the photo requirements are always the same (as long as it’s in Germany – note: other EU countries have different requirements for a biometric photo).
A biometric photo needs to be:
- 36mm x 45mm in size
- your head needs to be close enough to the camera that it is between 32 and 36mm
- on a light-colored background
- centered with a full frontal view of the face
- no glasses allowed
- eyes must be open and looking straight into the camera lens (red-eye not acceptable)
- no smiling and mouth closed
- no shadows and proper lighting and contrast
