Finding kid-friendly restaurants in and around Düsseldorf where both parents and children can enjoy a meal can be challenging (sometimes it feels next to impossible), but Düsseldorf does have plenty of family-friendly spots that cater to all ages, it’s just about asking the right people.

Naturally, we’ve asked our amazing community to pitch in here and we’ve been able to develop a list of some of the best kid-friendly restaurants in Düsseldorf. ⬇️

L’Osteria

With multiple locations in Düsseldorf, L’Osteria is a family favorite (our family favorite actually). The Langenfeld location stands out with its big car park and outdoor playground, making it a perfect spot for families. Their kid’s menu offers a variety of tasty options, and the food is great for adults too. It’s our go-to spot with the kids!

Landhaus Freemann boasts a spacious backyard and outdoor playground, making it a fantastic choice for families. The relaxed atmosphere and outdoor space allow kids to play freely while parents enjoy their delicious meals.

Nordpark Café & Tapasbar

Located in the scenic Nordpark, this café and Tapasbar offers a playground outside, providing a great place for kids to burn off some energy while parents relax with a coffee or meal. This location has recently been taken over and re-opened (2024) so if you’ve been in the past, it’s worth going back to check out the new setup!

Kurhaus Düsseldorf

Situated in the Volksgarten, Kurhaus Düsseldorf is equipped with a little indoor play corner and lots of toys on the patio. There’s also a playground right outside, making it an excellent spot for families with young children.

Café Südpark

Café Südpark offers a variety of kid-friendly food options, an indoor play corner, and a playground right outside. It’s a perfect place for a family brunch or lunch. You can also head to the pump track with your bikes or even the Südpark petting zoo once you’re done.

Alte Rheinfähre

This restaurant features a playground out front and is within walking distance from the beach. Kids will love the motorized go-karts, making it a fun and engaging experience for the whole family. The menu at the Alte Rheinfähre is typisch Deutsch and not too extensive, but the quality is quite good.

Rheinfahre

Haus Rheingarten

Haus Rheingarten in Lohausen has an outdoor terrace, a big green space for kids to run around, and a playground. It’s a great spot for families to relax and enjoy a meal while the kids play.

liebevoll! in der Auermühle

A bit outside of Düsseldorf,  liebevoll! in der Auermühle in Ratingen offers an outdoor playground, a little creek running through the area, and kid-friendly menu options. It’s nestled in the middle of a beautiful outdoor setting, perfect for a family day out (we’ve got tons of other day trips/weekend getaways for kids on the blog too)

These restaurants made it to the top of our list because the food is great (for the most part) and they provide a fun, welcoming atmosphere for our kids. Whether you’re a local or an expat in Düsseldorf, these spots will make dining out with kids a breeze.

👋 Hey, I’m Jenna!

The voice behind Life in Düsseldorf

I’m a German Canadian who moved to Düsseldorf over a decade ago, and like many of you, I had a million questions when I arrived. From trying to figure out how health insurance works in Germany to wondering where the best bakery is (spoiler: it’s Bülle 🍞), I’ve been through it all.

So I created Life in Düsseldorf to help make your transition smoother — whether you’re moving to Germany, already living here, or just curious about life abroad. My mission? To make you feel a little less overwhelmed and a lot more at home.
