Whatever your style is, we’ve all got a little bit of a creative edge. So when you’re looking for a way to unleash your creative side here in Düsseldorf, this list of cool, crafty, and creative classes in Düsseldorf will help you do just that!

So whether pottery painting is your thing, or you’re ready to unleash your moves on the dance floor, you’ll find a little something for everyone in this blog post.

Pottery Painting at Eigenlob

At Eigenlob, you’ll get a brief introduction on how it’s done in the workshop space and all the materials you can use. First up, you’ll be able to browse through their shop and pick any piece(s) you’d like to use for your painting project that day. The prices are right next to each product. Workshop materials are included in the price of the pottery, which means an easy checkout at the end of the day. In 1-2 weeks you’ll be able to pick up your final masterpiece which is glazed and burned by the Eigenlob team.

PS: They also speak English!

DIY & Home Decor Classes with Frau Vombau

If you constantly fall in love with those DIY Pinterest boards and always wonder how on earth do they do it?! That’s exactly what Frau Vombau is here to show you in her workshops. Her workshops are updated on the website, but at the moment, you’ll find a wide array of different classes including “Bohren-dübeln-schrauben“, “Wände streichen“, “Wände tapezieren“, and “Aufarbeitung Deines Möbelstucks”.

La Cucina di Casa Italian Cooking Classes

There’s no better way to learn how to cook like an Italian than from a team of food frenzy Italians themselves. At La Cucina di Casa you will learn how to cook some of the best Italian classics just like grandma used to make.

PS: They also speak English!

Indian Culinary Classes at The Mustard Table

Previously known as Chocolate & Spices, The Mustard Table is a well-loved offer here in Düsseldorf. Course host, Paushali Lass, offers Indian cooking classes both online and in-person. Depending on the course, you’ll have the opportunity to make some Indian local favorites including Mangsho Jhol, Goan Prawns, and Chana Masala. Paushali also offers dining events, private events, and takeaway.

PS: She also speaks English!

Acrylic Art Workshops with Anastasia Pris

Similar to a classic Art Night, Anastasia teaches you how to bring a beautiful painting to life using acrylic paints. Most of her workshops can be found on eventbrite where you will also be able to see which painting will be the inspiration for that specific workshop. If you cannot find courses using the above link, she might have no courses available at the moment.

Book Binding & Story Writing with Shu Ling Tan

Shu Ling, a psychologist, and Lena, a visual artist with a passion for upcycling, come together in this workshop to guide you through a self-discovery journey all while binding your own book and learning how to begin your own story. This class allows you to get creative and embrace a mindfulness experience and a self-discovery journey.

You can find more event information here: https://www.shulingtan.com/events

Natural Cosmetics, Cement Art Classes & Book Binding Classes at Die ProjektEffekt

The idea behind these crafty classes and workshops at Die ProjektEffekt is that they bring inner peace while in the creation phase. The course host wants you to be able to get up after a crafting session and think where on earth has the time gone?! Taking you out of the daily hustle and bustle of your life and putting you into a calming and creative flow.

Brushlettering, Hand-lettering & Calligraphy at Schriftschatz

Be sure that when you go to Schriftschatz, you will not only walk away with a masterpiece but some serious knowledge on how to continue making super creations at home. Many of Gaby’s workshops run 2-4 hours long so that you actually learn the entire concept in a fun way before you get crafting. I can highly recommend any one of the Schriftschatz courses.

PS: She speaks English too! And deserves a photo credit for the featured image above! 🙂

Hand-lettering, Macrame & Sewing Classes at Der Stoffladen – Caro von Jordan

At Der Stoffladen you’ll walk away with many talents! Whether you’d like to join alone or with a group, you can choose from hand-lettering workshops, macrame courses, or sewing classes (for both adults and children).

Hire a Hand-lettering Instructor to Your Home in Düsseldorf with Stickynote Lettering

The Founder of Stickynote Lettering, Nina, actually runs workshops at a number of local studios in Düsseldorf including at Der Stoffladen – Caro von Jordan (mentioned above). However, she also hosts at-home workshops for you and your family and/or friends. Whether it’s a ladies’ night in, a bachelorette party or a birthday party, Nina comes well equipped for an evening of hand-lettering fun.

Calligraphy Classes at Poesie der Feder

A blast from the past! Wouldn’t it be lovely to be able to effortlessly write beautiful cards and letters with a calligraphy pen?! At Poesie der Feder, this is where you’ll have the chance to learn everything you need to know about calligraphy – from A to Z.

Macrame Workshops at BijousDesigns

Whether you’re hoping to make something for your wall, a gift for a friend, or just looking to have some fun, macrame can be a great way to kick back and relax while learning something new. At BijousDesigns you’ll learn a variety of different techniques that will allow you to make beautiful macrame wall hangings as well as planter pot hangers.

Creamberry Sewing Classes

The course host, Paulina, is one of the most creative and inspiring people I’ve met. Not only will she help you learn a thing or two about sewing that you can take home and practice on your own, but you’ll also likely leave her studio feeling inspired to do more.

PS: She speaks English too!

Chocolate Making Classes at Soiree Chocolat

If you’re looking for something a little unique and want a course that has a little less to do with crafts and glue, then perhaps a chocolate-making class is the perfect option? Their courses are few and far between, but seem rather worth the wait!

Porcelain Workshops at Fragile.

When you’ve tried pottery painting and are ready to test your skills out at something a little more intricate, why not try a porcelain workshop? At Fragile. in Düsseldorf, you can either choose a quick class to get a basic understanding of the full process, or you can come back for more and take each part of the course day-by-day.

Art Night in Düsseldorf

Art Night isn’t a new concept, so you probably don’t need much of an explanation here, but you’ll find many different freelance artists offering up Art Nights where you learn how to recreate a masterpiece that the artist has already previously created themselves. You’ll go through every step of the process and often get the opportunity to add a little bit of your own flair to the painting process as well.

Plant Night in Düsseldorf

Similar to Art Night, plant night is an opportunity to make art with plants for your home decor. Whether it’s a seasonal wreath or a living wall frame, there’s a lot to choose from here.

Jewelry-making at Perlenreich

Jewelry-making classes at Perlenreich are the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, a bachelorette party, or evening just an evening off of work! You can also choose to come back again and take one of their more advanced classes if you’re ready to learn new techniques like engraving and threading.

Armband Workshops & Bachelorette Craft Classes at Ela Eis

If you’re looking for the full experience, you can also head to Ela Eis who hosts not only adult classes, but bachelorette parties, firm events, kids birthday parties, and teenage workshops. Many of their packages also include food and drink and even a photo shooting session.

Tanzhaus NRW Dance Classes & Workshops

You probably already know the Tanzhaus NRW for their amazing performances, but you don’t have to be a pro to jump on the stage here! Tanzhaus has many different dance classes for the young and old, and for the beginners and pros. You also have the opportunity to choose from a ton of different dance styles including tango, ballet, creative dance, tap dance, and much more.

Pick your own classes at VHS or ASG

If you’re looking for ongoing creative classes here in Düsseldorf, look no further than VHS or ASG. These are both further educational institutes that offer all different types of classes including language courses, cooking classes, art classes, computer classes, and much much more.

👋 Hey, I’m Jenna!

The voice behind Life in Düsseldorf

I’m a German Canadian who moved to Düsseldorf over a decade ago, and like many of you, I had a million questions when I arrived. From trying to figure out how health insurance works in Germany to wondering where the best bakery is (spoiler: it’s Bülle 🍞), I’ve been through it all.

So I created Life in Düsseldorf to help make your transition smoother — whether you’re moving to Germany, already living here, or just curious about life abroad. My mission? To make you feel a little less overwhelmed and a lot more at home.
